If you register your phone number in the DND registry, telemarketers are supposed to check and ‘honor’ the status before sending you promotional SMSes and Telemarketing calls.
There are two types of DND blocks available for you to use:
Fully Blocked Category: Stop of all commercial Calls and Promo SMSes
Partially Blocked Category: Stop all commercial Calls/Promo SMSes except SMS from one of the opted category preferences
Important: Since you’re STARTING a DoNotDisturb request, remember to SMS “START” (not STOP – you might unknowingly do this the first time)

Block SMS Categories
- Send SMS at START 1 to 1909 to block Banking, Insurance, Financial Products, Credit Cards
- Send SMS at START 2 to 1909 to block Real Estate
- Send SMS at START 3 to 1909 to block Education
- Send SMS at START 4 to 1909 to block Health
- Send SMS at START 5 to 1909 to block Consumer Goods & Automobiles
- Send SMS at START 6 to 1909 to block Communication, Broadcasting, Entertainment, IT
- Send SMS at START 7 to 1909 to block Tourism
NOTE: You can also de-register the DND service to resume receiving the marketing calls and messages. For that, just send an SMS STOP and send it to 1909. You can also call 1909 to cancel the service.
